CAD WALK Plantar Pressure Datasets


Healthy Controls Dataset

This dataset contains the raw dynamic plantar pressure measurements of 55 healthy Dutch individuals collected at Sint Maartenskliniek, Nijmegen. For each individual, 24 dynamic plantar pressure measurements were collected from both feet. Also collected are walking speeds for each plantar pressure measurements, and demographic information of all individuals measured (age, height, weight, shoe size, sex, handedness, leg dominance). A full description of the data collection is found in the Readme.pdf file accompanying this dataset.



Hallux Valgus Dataset (Pre-Surgery)

This dataset contains the raw dynamic plantar pressure measurements of 50 Dutch individuals with a Hallux Valgus collected prior to surgical intervention at Sint Maartenskliniek centres in the Netherlands. For each individual, between 8 and 15 dynamic plantar pressure measurements were collected from both feet. Also collected are walking speeds for each plantar pressure measurements, and demographic information of all individuals measured (age, height, weight, shoe size, sex, handedness, leg dominance). Additionally, x-ray images were used to measure the hallux valgus angle and intermetatarsal angle for each hallux valgus case. Finally, each participant also completed two foot self-assessment questionnaires: the Foot Function Index (FFI-5pt) and the Manchester-Oxford foot questionnaire. Hallux Valgus Dataset (Post-Surgery)

The post-surgery CAD WALK plantar pressure datasets are currently being collected and are not yet available for download. Please check back regularly for updates on the status of these datasets.


ACL Rupture Datasets

Unfortunately, the planned data collection from patients with an ACL rupture could not be completed during the project timeline. We still have ethics approval for collecting this data and we hope to revisit this task if time and interest permits.


Status Updates

  • September 12, 2019 - The pre-surgery hallux valgus dataset is updated to include x-ray measurements of the hallux valgus angles, intermetatarsal angles, and information on joint arthrosis. The updated dataset can be downloaded here.
  • March 19, 2019 - The pre-surgery hallux valgus dataset is placed online. This dataset includes 50 individuals and can be downloaded here.
  • March 11, 2019 - Foot pressure measurements are collected from another 6 Hallux Valgus patients, bringing us up to a total of 53. This completes the measurements for our pre-surgery Hallux Valgus paitent population. Data quality control begins.
  • February 14, 2019 - Foot pressure measurements are collected from another 5 Hallux Valgus patients, bringing us up to a total of 47.
  • January 22, 2019 - Foot pressure measurements are collected from another 5 Hallux Valgus patients, bringing us up to a total of 42.
  • January 17, 2019 - Foot pressure measurements are collected from another 6 Hallux Valgus patients, bringing us up to a total of 37.
  • December 6, 2018 - Foot pressure measurements are collected from another 6 Hallux Valgus patients, bringing us up to a total of 31.
  • October 1, 2018 - A pre-release is made available of the pre-surgery Hallux Valgus foot pressure measurements. This dataset includes 16 individuals and can be downloaded here.
  • September 18-23, 2018 - Foot pressure measurements are collected from another 11 Hallux Valgus patients.
  • August 24, 2018 - An additional 8 Hallux Valgus patients receive foot pressure measurements.
  • July 5, 2018 - Began collecting foot pressure measurements from Hallux Valgus patients, with 6 individuals being measured.
  • June 4, 2018 - Data quality control is complete. Dataset of 55 healthy controls posted online.
  • May 20, 2018 - Sixty healthy controls have been measured. Data quality control begins.
  • April 27, 2018 - Foot pressure measurements have been collected from 53 of 60 healthy controls.
  • April 16, 2018 - CAD WALK receives ethical approval from the medical-ethical review commission (METC). We now have the approval to collect foot pressure data from patient groups
  • March 23, 2018 - Data collection begins with measurements taken from our first two healthy participants.
  • March 20, 2018 - CAD WALK passes institutional peer review. Provisional approval has been obtained to collect foot pressure data from healthy individuals.
  • March 7, 2018 - Our ethics application is submitted to the medical-ethical review commission (METC).
  • February 26, 2018 - Our 1.5 meter pressure plate arrives!
  • January 12, 2018 - CAD WALK passes departmental ethics peer review.
  • December 8, 2017 - CAD WALK receives approval from the Data Protection Officer.
  • November 24, 2017 - CAD WALK's ethics application is submitted for review.
  • October 1, 2017 - Began the application for ethics approval of the CAD WALK project.
